Swing Semester 2008 connects swing state residents with young people who are working on progressive efforts in their city. As a Swing Semester host, you’ll be among a group of 20-25 other host families who are housing these young progressives and participating in a vibrant community this fall.

We’re all in luck if you live in one of our program cities: Denver, CO; Cincinnati, OH, and Virginia Beach, VA. We’re looking for hosts to open their doors from now through the weekend after the election, November 9th.

If you don’t live in one of these cities, but know someone who does, invite them to host!

What do you get to do as a Host?

As little or as much as you want. All that’s required to host is to offer a space in your home, but you’re also invited to join our reading groups and contribute your own ideas and mentorship for participant-led projects and events.

Connect with your Progressive Neighbors. Connect with others in your neighborhood and form relationships that will last long after the election.

Experience the Election Buzz. As a host, you share in the experience of the participant staying in your home - hearing things that are not reported on the news and getting a real sense of what is going on in your city.

Learn Something New. Engage with thought-provoking readings on some of the most relevant topics in progressive politics through a series of reading groups with your fellow hosts and participants.

Contribute. By opening your home to a young person, you are enabling them to act on their progressive values and have a life-changing experience this fall.
